K-swiss Ariake Parkour shoes

The K-swiss Ariake Parkour shoes are a great choice if you’re new to the Parkour and Free running scene. Also, if you’re an advanced Free runner, making big leaps across obstacles, you will require a shoe that will take some of the impact.

No matter in what category you’re situated at the moment, I would like to give you some impressions on the K-Swiss Ariake shoes designed especially for Parkour and Free running.

I received these shoes a few days ago, and had the chance to take them out for a spin in both dry and wet conditions, considering it only rained after 2 days in my training sessions. Let me give you a short review:

The K-swiss Ariake's are great for Parkour or Free running. Especially if you are abeginner.

The K-swiss Ariake’s are great for Parkour or Free running. Especially if you are a beginner.

Look: The K-swiss Ariake Parkour shoes look good, if you have a taste for futuristic design. The K-swiss Ariake look fast and will make you feel fast wearing them. It’s a quirky shoe, especially if you get a multi-colored version like I did.

Weight: They aren’t too heavy or inflexible, but they do seem more bulky than other shoes. The leather upper feels solid, but the plain outsole looks thin enough not to cause issues.

Comfort: They are quite supportive, especially laterally. Your feet won’t slop around too much, even after they break in. When they DO break in, they are ridiculously comfortable.

Impact: They have plenty of cushioning and heel support, so you’ll feel like standing on feathers. However, no amount of cushioning on your feet is going to make up for improper landings. On a side-note, they could use a bit more ankle support.

Jump/spring: Ariake’s behave nicely on this chapter, sporting a strong middle section that will help keep your toes in a normal position when hitting walls with your feet.

Grip: GREAT grip. The outsole rubber is vertical, which you might think will probably slide more than grip, but it’s quite the opposite. The shoes hold tight onto bars and marble walls even in slippery conditions.

Other things: The insole of the K-swiss Ariake Parkour shoes is also perforated for some breathability, which is a nice touch, and the tongue of the shoe has the pocket like soccer cleats so that you can tuck your laces out of the way so they don’t catch on anything.

Overall: It’s a great shoe for beginners and Free runners that prefer a shoe with lots of support. After three or so months they got severly torn, so regularly clean and harden the leather, otherwise the leather will become weak.

The K-swiss Ariake Parkour shoes

It’s a great shoe for you daily Parkour and Free running training. It handles really well and offers great value for both beginners looking to protect their joints and hardcore traceurs/free runners looking to stick a long precision jump.

Great review! I’ve had a few friends that got Ariakes but never tried them myself. I just never felt they were worth the price Compared to basic cheap running shoes since I go through them so fast. How much of a difference do you feel it brings to your training compared to a basic new balance shoe?

The sole is pretty sturdy, especially the front part. But the upper leather is prone to degradation if you push them hard. The flat configuration of the sole has better grip than New Balance and helps when you cat-leap or do long precision jumps. But the price is an issue here. If you can afford the investment, I say they’re worth a shot.

      Hi David,

You are asking for a place to buy the K-swiss Ariake shoes. I don’t live in Mexico, but you can try going to http://www.k-swiss.com.mx/. They should be able to help you out.

Just wondering, is there any chance they make this shoe for women at all and if so, where could I find them?

      Hi Leah,

Unfortunately, there’s no version for women yet. You do have an alternative though. The Ultra-Natural Run II also from K-swiss. I heard a lot of women using them and loving it:
